Feedback Unit 2
As a mom of two daughters, ages 5 and 9, diving into the Adolescence life stage website hit home for me. It's so important to understand and learn how female bodies go through unique changes during puberty. One key point that grabbed my attentions was the difference in lung development between boys and girls. I did not realize that girls may face a higher risk of smoke-related issues, COPD, and even lung cancer due to distinctive lung anatomy that starts developing even before birth. My youngest was a Preemie at 31 weeks, I feel like any virus always takes a toll on her poor lungs. This connection between our respiratory system and reproductive system, influenced by hormones like estrogen, is new information to me.
I really enjoyed the appealing aesthetics and helpful visuals of the website. My favorite illustration highlighted the difference between boys and girls brains, cleverly using a waffle brain for boys, and a spaghetti brain for girls. This visual metaphor added a touch of humor and made the emotional landscape of teenage girls more relatable. My only criticism was that the visual with LS and FHS release was a little blurry and needed a higher resolution. Overall, I am really looking forward to this course and reading more findings across the women's lifespan.
